Två dagar före julafton blir Pettson och Findus insnöade på den lilla gården. Snart har de ätit upp all mat och inte kan de ta sig ut för att hugga ner en julgran. Findus är rädd att det inte kommer bli något julfirande, men Pettson lovar att det ska bli den bästa julen någonsin! Nästa dag är vädret bättre och de lyckas ta släden ut i skogen. Men Pettson gör illa foten och de får återvända hem tomhänta. Grannarna Beda och Gustavsson erbjuder sig att hjälpa dem, men Pettson envisas med att tacka nej. När Findus gör ett sista försök att rädda julen håller han på att ställa till det ordentligt. Till slut får han Pettson på bättre tankar och tillsammans bygger de en alldeles egen julgran. Plötsligt knackar det på dörren och när de öppnar tror de inte sina ögon: Där står deras snälla grannar med famnen full av godsaker. Äntligen kan vännerna fira den bästa julen någonsin!
