Efter ett fem år långt förordnande som polis på Europol i Haag flyttar Johan Falk tillbaka till sin hemstad Göteborg. Han har fått en tjänst på en framgångsrik liten specialenhet, GSI û Gruppen för Särskilda Insatser, som punktmarkerar den grova organiserade brottsligheten. Men Johan får problem: hans familj fl yttar inte med honom hem. Familjen består numera av Johan, Helén och hennes dotter Nina, samt Johan och Heléns gemensamme son Ola som är fem år.
