Jonna, Peter, Katrine, Asger och Mårten står alla fem i det största vägskälet i livet. Jonna är 54 år och arbetar som körskolelärare. Jonnas son Peter ska gifta sig om två månader men en natt försöker han ta sitt liv. Katarina är en ung kvinna som tjänar sina pengar genom att städa hemma hos folk, bland annat hos Jonna. Samtidigt börjar hon ge körlektioner till en man som heter Mårten, som förlorade körkortet när han körde bil berusad. De är människor som har viktig betydelse för varandra, men som inte är ärliga mot varandra. De lever i en skuggvärld av lögner och halvsanningar och väntar bara på att sanningen ska komma fram så de kan fortsätta sina liv i en ny riktning.
