I kustsamhället Lugnvik bor räddningsfartyget Elias och hans vänner. Efter en storm får Elias problem med den kaxige Rocky Gabrielsson II och Räddningscentralen. Underhållsfartyget Berte vill trösta Elias och visar honom den pampiga kungliga hamnen. De smiter förbi vakterna och tar sig in i hamnen. Där råkar de höra amiral Pang, adjutant Hoff och Rocky Gabrielsson prata med varandra: Kungaskeppet är borta och måste hittas! Amiral Pang vill skicka den tuffa, kvinnliga stridsbåten Kapten Krut och forskningsfartyget Sinus för att leta. Adjutant Hoff menar att det vore smartare att bara använda en båt och Berte föreslår Elias. På så sätt kommer Elias med på expeditionen för att hitta Kungaskeppet. Tillsammans sätter Krut, Sinus och Elias kurs norrut och på vägen trotsar de många faror. Som tur är har Elias goda vänner som ställer upp när det gäller.
