Den lilla elefanten Sebastian och hans bäste vän, katten Mitcho, bor i Solby – en trevlig liten kuststad där allt andas frid och lycka, tills den dag då stadens älskade borgmästare J.B. plötsligt försvinner. Snabbt som ögat tar viceborgmästaren Kvist över ledarskapet och planerar att bygga en jättestor skyskrapa som kommer lägga staden i evig skugga. Och det är just vad Sebastian och Milo gör, och sen sätter de segel för att ge sig ut på sitt livs äventyr där de kommer möta läbbiga pirater, en mekanisk jättedrake och massor med spöken…Filmen bygger på en storsäljande bok av Jakob Martin Strid (utgiven även i Sverige) och är regisserad av svenskbekantingen Jørgen Lerdam som gjort succé med de tecknade långfilmerna ”Pettson & Findus - Tomtemaskinen” och ”Pettson & Findus - Glömligheter”. Filmerna om Djungeldjuret Hugo samt vargen Balto är också hans verk.
